Light the Towers
In the wake of a failed coup, a young political fugitive struggles to evade an obsessive government agent and build a life for herself in an America wrecked by war.
Orphaned teenager Kate Emerson struggles to survive alone on the bombed-out streets of St. Louis following a failed military coup led by her father, General Emerson. When a top government agent sets his sights on apprehending Kate, she becomes entangled in the underworld of 2050s America—a landscape of intrigue, tyranny, and unrest.
Light the Towers is structured as a series of interconnected stories, narrated by a range of characters—resistance workers, clergymen, government agents, prisoners, soldiers, musicians, and spies. Their lives intersect and intertwine, weaving the threads that determine Kate Emerson’s fate.
Four chapters of the novel have been published in literary journals.
